RGCB is celebrating World Environment day. As a part of the celebration planting of tree saplings was done at the Akkulam campus. Professor Chandrabhas Narayana, Director and Mr. S.Mohanan Nair, Chief Controller, Dr T.R. Santhosh Kumar, Scientist, Mr. R.Kumar, Deputy Controller of Finance, Mr K.K Narayanan, Chief engineer were present on the occassion along with staff and students of RGCB.


As part of the World Environment Day Program, stalls set up in the RGCB Main Campus Lobby and make use of the demonstration for paper bag making. A slogan and painting competitions were organized for staff and students based on this year's theme. Mitraniketan an NGO, demonstrated the making of paper bags as an alternative to plastic bags. The tribal heritage program of RGCB exhibited various products developed from Bamboo. The winners of the various competitions were received prizes from Professor Chandrabhas Narayana, Director

RGCB celebrated World Environment Day at RGCB Science Museum with students from Government Higher Secondary School and St. Josph's Girls Higher Secondary School, Meppadi, Wayanad District. Dr. Manjula S, and Dr. G.S. Vinod Kumar, Senior Scientists from RGCB, Dr. G. Christopher, Research Coordinator - Human Ecology & Natural History, Advanced Centre of Environmental Studies and Sustainable Development, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam and Shri V. C. Balakrishnan, Environment activist delivered lectures and interacted with the students. Guinness book recorder Shri Ramesh Unarv recited folk songs relevant to the environment. The DST -Tribal Heritage Project Team conducted Environmental quiz competitions and Poster presentations under the theme "Beat Plastic Pollution" and Lifestyle for Environment.
