BRIC-RGCB celebrated World Environment Day on 5^th June 2025. Dr. K. Anoop Krishnan from N-CESS, Thiruvananthapuram delivered the invited talk on “Chemistry of emerging contaminants in riverine systems with a focus on microplastics.” Prof. Chandrabhas Narayana, Director, presided over the programmes on the campus. Several contests were conducted, including an Idea Contest on Zero Waste Management, a poetry competitionand a photography competition and the Chief Guest distributed the prizes. Prof. Narayana also announced the launch of an environmental club at RGCB named “Vasudha,” and Dr. Moumita Srivastava will be the Faculty co-ordinator, and Ms. Shaima S. will be the student co- coordinator. A book entitled “Diversity of Kerala's wild edibles and indigenous crops” was also released during the function, which was an outcome of the Tribal Heritage Project supported by DST.

As a part of World Environment Day 2025, the planting of tree saplings was done at the Akkulam campus of BRIC-RGCB. Dr. T. R. Santhosh Kumar, Scientist G; Mr. K. K. Narayanan, Chief Engineer; and Mr. Suresh Kumar, Akkulam Ward Councilor, were present on the occasion along with staff and students of RGCB.
