A simple end-point assay for calcium channel activity
Cellular calcium signaling events are transient. Hence they are observed in real time using fluorescence imaging or electrophysiological methods that require sophisticated instrumentation and specialized skills. For high throughput assays simple and inexpensive techniques are desirable.
Endocardial endothelium, which lines the chambers of the heart, is distinct in its origin, structure, and function. Characterization studies using genomics and proteomics have reported molecular signatures supporting the structural and functional heterogeneity of various endothelial cells.
Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are characterised by tangles of dysplastic blood vessels which shunt blood from arteries to veins with no intervening capillary bed. It is not known at what stage of development and differentiation, AVM vessels became aberrant.
