The RGCB library is a repository of a valuable collection of many sought after international books and journals on life sciences. The Library is automated with library management software for house keeping operations and online searching of library documents. Barcoding technology is applied for circulation of library documents. An open access system is followed in the library which provides twelve hours continuous service (9 am to 9 pm) on all working days ensuring excellent service to scientific community, scientists, students, research fellows, project trainees and other users.

From January 2009 onwards, RGCB has become a member of the Department of Biotechnology's Electronic Library Consortia ( DeLCON). This now enable users access to four hundred and eighty four e- journals from fifteen international publishers. In addition, the library subscribes to a number of national and international journals. In addition to the prestigious collection of 2586 books on biotechnology and 2393 bound volumes containing back issues (from 1995 onwards) of one hundred and four national and international journals in its collection. The library also has a substantial collection of multimedia. Ph.D doctoral theses from RGCB form yet another collection in the library. RGCB has so far produced seventy eight doctoral theses..

For in house use the library has a network of computers to cater to the requirements of the users which include students, research fellows and project trainees. E- journals and other electronic resources are available in the Local Area Network (LAN) provided in the RGCB and these facilities are available to all RGCB network users. An Electronic Document Delivery Service has been introduced to facilitate availability of articles and such other relevant materials.
