India has the highest number of the oral and throat cancer cases in the world. Every third oral cancer patient in the world is from India. While in males, cancers of the oral cavity and lung are the most common causes of cancer incidence and death, in females cervical and breast cancer are the main causes of cancer related illnesses and death. Cancer Research is RGCB's leading flagship programme led by a network of 7 independent investigators understanding the fundamental mechanisms of cancer biology with the eventual goal of harnessing the potential that emerges from increasing knowledge to develop effective management strategies for cancer.
